RSS (Real Simple Syndication) is a common method used by the blogging community to share their latest headlines or full text, and even attach multimedia files. Over the last several years use of RSS has grown to include corporations and major news outlets as a means of allowing other websites to incorporate their "syndicated" headline and summary feeds. Many corporations are beginning to turn to RSS for delivery of common business information.

Through RSS consumers are able to have news constantly fed to them instead of searching for it.

In order to benefit from the convenience of RSS you will need help. A program known as a feed reader or aggregator can check a list of feeds for you and display any updated articles that it finds. Feed readers can be either a program on your desktop or a web-based system accessed using your web browser. Web-based feed readers and news aggregators require no software installation and make the user's "feeds" available on any computer with Web access.

On Web pages, RSS feeds are typically linked with the word "Subscribe", an orange rectangle or with the letters or .

Many news aggregators such as My Yahoo!, Bloglines, and Newsgator publish subscription buttons like the ones listed below for use on Web pages to simplify the process of adding news feeds.
